Traditional WC based hard alloy cutting tools are currently the most widely used tools in the market. China has abundant tungsten resources, but extremely scarce cobalt resources. As shown in Figure 1, cobalt resources have a high dependence on imports, which limits the development of hard alloys. At the same time, Co element is harmful to human health, so reducing the use of Co and developing non bonded phase hard alloy cutting tools have practical significance. With the increasing application of difficult to machine materials and the increasing requirements of new materials for tool performance, traditional hard alloy tools can no longer meet some material processing requirements.
